Vintage Product Support Policy
The End of Service Life (EOSL) is the final phase of a product’s lifecycle. Products reach EOSL for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include changes in market demand, innovation and technological advancements which render older products obsolete, or a product may simply mature over time and is then replaced by functionally richer technology.
With that in mind, Seagate recognizes customers’ need to plan for the end of a product’s lifecycle. We have established this official End of Service Life policy (the “Policy”), to help customers plan for, and transition to, new product offerings. This policy applies to all consumer goods manufactured by Seagate. Consumer goods are any new external storage product that is bought from a retailer primarily for personal, family, or household use purposes.
Seagate will make reasonable efforts to provide notice of the affected product’s EOSL date. Once a product receives EOSL designation, Seagate will no longer sell the hardware or provide maintenance support services, which may include security vulnerability mitigation steps. This is separate from any warranty that may be applicable to a given product.
EOSL designation Seagate has discontinued support for certain products that are identified as technologically obsolete or vintage. For guidance about which products are obsolete or vintage, please see below.
Vintage products are those products that were manufactured more than 3 but less than 7 years ago. If a product is designated as vintage, Seagate may no longer provide service and software updates or improvements, except as required by law.
Obsolete products are those products that were manufactured more than 7 years prior. Once a product is designated as obsolete, Seagate will no longer manufacture, improve, maintain, or support the product, including its hardware, software and content services.
